About Lawn Bowls Section

The Tanglin Club has a world class Lawn Bowls facility, which is situated on the fourth floor of the Sports Complex. It has a sand filled synthetic surface, and is the most modern in Singapore featuring six rinks of 40m in the east – west direction and eight rinks of 34m in the north – south direction. It can accommodate a maximum of 64 players at any one time. During the late afternoon until nightfall the green is shaded by the surrounding buildings and the constant breeze makes afternoon and evening play most enjoyable under the flood lights. The Drainage system for the green is very effective and enables play to recommence within half an hour once rain stops.

All necessary equipment is available from the Club for the use of members and this includes bowls of various sizes and weights, as well as mats, jacks and measuring tools. Equipment lockers are available to Section Members close by the Green. During the course of play refreshments are on hand from the Bowls Bar. The only essential items required by all players are flat soled sports or bowls shoes and a collared polo shirt of any colour. We wear Club uniforms only for tournaments.

The section committee organizes, Coaching, Practice matches, Club tournaments, Friendly matches with other clubs and visiting overseas teams, the Interclub league and regular overseas bowls Tours and Interport matches. 
 

Regular Activities

Coaching sessions are available at no charge on Wednesday evenings from 5:00pm (other days can be arranged). Booking at the Sports Reception is essential.

Every Sunday afternoon is devoted to practice matches. Register at 3.45 and play commences at 4pm. The first Sunday of every month is Section Social Sunday the activity includes practice matches and greenside refreshments, provided by the Section. Guests are always welcome especially if they are experienced bowlers.

The lawn bowls section is the fastest growing section of the club and welcomes new players of any standard including “never bowled before”, this is the game that couples of any age can play together on equal terms,  just register at the sports reception to get started.
